An interview with underground beatmaster Prof.Logik.

Hailing from Jamaica Queens, New York is underground beatmaker Prof.Logik. I was able to catch up with him and ask him some questions regarding his music, Heres the interview!!!!

AJ: First introduce yourself to people who may not know you?

PL: Southside Jamaica Queens own....Prof.logik.

AJ: What got you into production?

PL: Growing up in new York listening to radio dj's hit a certain nerve...i knew way back then that i wanted
to make music...i felt that rappers nor dj's would be able to do anything without a producer...lol here i am.

AJ: Who would you say are some of your biggest influences?

PL: Without a doubt the late great j.dilla, dj premier, rza, madlib, dj red alert, The cosmos,my dreams, enhteogens(natural psychedelics) and weed.....

AJ: What is your current production setup like right now?

PL: My current set-up is :ensoniq asr-10, boss sp-303, korg dw-6000, ableton live 8, akai mpd 32, 2 krk's rokit 6's and plenty of dusty vinyl.

AJ: What drew you towards using the Boss/Roland SP line of samplers?

PL: The sp-303 was my first sampler....i drifted to the mpc a few years after that..it just was gritty enough for me..im not a fan of clean crisp audio....but the sp-303 has my sampler of choice as long as i can remeber...it wasnt a follow the leader thing for me.

AJ: How would you describe your style/sound of production?

PL: Blunted, gritty, spacey, lo-fi, boom-bap....thats sums it up.

AJ: Besides producing are you involved in any other musical projects?

PL: Yeah me and my little brother...are working on a album...yeah i will be spittin rhymes along with my brother, be on the look out for that.....

AJ: What is your take on the current underground beat scene?

PL: I luv it....now more than ever producers are able to shine alone....off of straight production
without mc's....its a beautiful..plus the current underground production scene...is full of so much talent.

AJ: Is there a current beat scene in SC?

PL: Nope not really...but it is growing..slowly but for sure its growing..plus im not from here...lol.

AJ: Is there any producers your really feeling at the moment?

PL: My hollow drum(collective), juj, shlohmo, munoz, ohbliv and samiyam.

AJ: Whats next for P.Logik?

PL: Plenty of collaboration...with soundcloud producers...to many to name..future science releases...winter release with skew records.

AJ: Shout Outs?

PL: Of course future science, skew records, cascade records and to all the Soundcloud producers that show me luv...i see yall and big up to serbia(bobby-anno)@heartbeat radio and the entire borough of Queens....

TWO 20 TWO

Hailing all the way from British Columbia but now resides in Toronto, Ontario is Dubstep/Glitchop producer Jean-Francois Pilotte a.k.a Two 20 Two, with his rabid unorthodox style of dubstep he is managing to make some noise with his tunes. He has citied Fruity Loops Studio as his main tool for creating such a massacre of sound but he also respectivley experiments with other noise making tools, be on the lookout for more Two 20 Two music in the near future and a possible album release digitally.

Here is a track he has produced called "Electrify" that you can download for free: http://www.box.net/shared/eo74ep6ax3
